Problem with the neighbour- darts and excessive noise
Weird one, this. My and my missus live in a block of flats and I have a dartboard which I frequently use. Our upstairs neighbour continuously complains she can hear the darts hitting the board. The truth is that she can- if she's sitting in silence alone in her flat. otherwise not really.

In the name of keeping the peace I have reluctantly agreed to not throw after 10pm but she was straight on the blower at about 9 tonight as soon as I started. She is being very polite, as are we in return. I am guessing if the council were called they'd just basically laugh in her face. Are any of her complaints warranted and should I even be paying heed to them and accommodating her?

I can't see any reason why I should, aside from keeping the peace, but it's really pissing me off seen as the best time to throw for an hour or so is after the missus has gone to bed.

Anyone got any pearls of wisdom, or better still an ingenious way to stop noises travelling up an internal wall?

Shes not over-reacting noises like that can be absolute torture. Some people seem to be able to ignore stuff like that but if you cant it feels like you're spiraling into madness.

That's ok because it's in the daytime while he's at work. ;-)

Scorch, you ever thought it could be concern for you with your overhang and unbuttoned shirt showing numerous gold chains?

ask her to go out when you are practicing and as a goodwill gesture, you'll contribute to her BFH at the end of the night.

Made me chuckle this.

In all honestly if I was bothering my neighbour, who has every right to sit in her house in peace, I would knock it on the head. Besides, you won't be able to relax as it will always be on your mind that you are bothering her or if the phone is gonna ring.

Find something else to do for an hour that doesn't bother other people. I'm sure you can.

The solution is simple. Marry your girlfriend.

That way the hour after she has gone to bed will be spent masturbating like every other husband in the world. If you're still thudding against the wall, you're doing it wrong.

Best thing to do is play air darts. Just pretend you are throwing them and do imaginary scoring. Go one dart away from a 9 dart finish to add some excitement.

Put the board on an exterior wall (on the inside obv)

Put a piece of foam rubber behind it - this will also protect the wall

Invest in a Dartmate!
Or if all else fails buy a detached house.

Is it the vibrations through the wall that's making the noise? Can you mount it on something away from the fall or put some foam between the board and e wall.

Of course it could just be e impact of dart on board. Frankly I have no idea.

Re: Problem with the neighbour- darts and excessive noise
Had the same problem when I was in a 3rd floor flat and the bloke on the ground floor played darts in the evening until gone 11pm. I can tell you it is clearly audible and fucking annoying. And it doesn't matter what time of day, it's still very annoying. The worst part is, you're waiting for the 3rd dart every time because you know they come in threes, donuts not like you can let go in one ear and out the other. I suggest you swap flats one evening for a couple of hours and let her throw darts. Then maybe you'll stop.
